Reich Paper was thrilled to open its doors this past weekend along with the Stand project for our first ever Pop-Up Paper Show. The response was amazing and our office was filled with energy, excitement, amazing artists and their beautiful work.
A Pop-Up Paper show like this made perfect sense to us. Paper is visceral, a loved and invaluable material for every artist. Humble and hardworking it is usually the first place for the artist’s ideas to take hold. For this show the artists were asked simply to use it. Cut it, paint it, draw on it, sculpt it. This was an homage to the humble workhorse that is paper. Artists were given sample packs of Reich Paper including both of our tree free lines : AVEO (90% sugar cane and 10% combination of linen and hemp) White and Brown Sugar 118# Cover and SAVOY (100% cotton) Grey and Brilliant White 118# Cover, as well as SHINE Pearl 107#, and ODEON Gala 118# Cover weights. Judging from over 75 pieces of artwork that were submitted, the artists were truly inspired by Reich Paper.
We agree with The Stand Project and their philosophy …love it or hate it, art sparks opinions. Whether it is visual beauty or the power of an idea, art draws us into itself through the deliberate expression of the artist. Brought to the local level, art connects the artist with the community, as it connects neighbors and visitors in the collective act of experiencing art. We were thrilled to be picked as the fourth venue for this forward thinking organization working to connect artists and community. We can’t wait to collaborate again in the future.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support not only this wonderful event, but the Bay Ridge, Brooklyn community and its talented artists as well. A great night was had by all!
